Job Summary
The Bartender / Bar Supervisor is responsible for the day-to-day operation of the bar, ensuring drinks are prepared and served consistently, efficiently and according to company standards.
The role is hands-on and requires the individual to work behind the bar while also taking responsibility for bar organisation, stock control, cleanliness, preparation and the performance of the bar team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to recipes and company standards.
- Maintain consistency in quality, presentation, portioning and speed of service.
- Ensure the bar is properly set up and fully prepared before each service.
- Supervise and support bartenders and other team members assigned to the bar.
- Coordinate with the floor team to ensure drinks are prepared and delivered promptly.
- Maintain a clean, organised and hygienic bar area at all times.
- Monitor bar stock levels and ensure sufficient stock is available for daily operations.
- Conduct and assist with stock counts, inventory control and stock movement.
- Monitor wastage, breakages and discrepancies and report irregularities to management.
- Ensure proper storage, rotation and handling of wines, spirits, beverages and bar ingredients.
- Check the condition and cleanliness of glassware, bar equipment and tools.
- Carry out opening and closing duties according to established procedures.
- Ensure bar equipment is used correctly and report any faults or maintenance requirements promptly
- Engage with guests professionally and provide beverage recommendations when required.
- Handle guest feedback regarding beverages professionally and escalate issues when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with food hygiene, workplace safety and responsible alcohol service requirements.
- Support the restaurant floor and wider FOH operation when required.
