Job Summary
The Equipment Storekeeper is responsible for the custody, maintenance tracking, organization, and lifecycle management of all catering equipment, utensils, tableware, furniture, and event logistics assets. Working within a high-tempo central kitchen environment, the ideal candidate ensures that all operational gear (chafing dishes, hot-boxes, trays, glassware, cutlery, portable cooking units) is fully accounted for, properly sanitized or maintained, and readily available in pristine condition for daily kitchen production and off-site events.
Key Responsibilities
1. Equipment Inventory & Asset Tracking
Maintain a master inventory database or asset management system for all catering equipment, smallwares, heavy appliances, and event logistics gear.
Conduct routine and periodic physical asset counts to track deployment, minimize loss, and prevent damage or shrinkage.
Manage the check-in and check-out system for equipment dispatched to external catering events or internal kitchen stations, ensuring accountability for every item returned.
2. Receiving & Quality Control
Receive newly purchased catering equipment, tableware, and replacement parts, inspecting items for defects, correct specifications, and completeness against purchase orders.
Tag, barcode, or engrave new assets with company identification tags for tracking purposes.
Coordinate with procurement for warranty claims or vendor replacements for damaged or defective equipment.
3. Event Logistics & Packing Support
- Prepare, pack, and stage equipment checklists accurately based on banquet event orders (BEOs) or packing lists for catering events and deliveries.
- Assist loading and unloading transport vehicles (delivery vans/trucks) securely to prevent breakage or transit damage during mobilization.
- Verify returned event items promptly upon arrival back at the central kitchen, documenting any missing or broken items immediately.
