Job Description: Kitchen Helper
Position: Kitchen Helper
Industry: Food & Beverage (F&B)
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in daily kitchen operations, including food preparation, washing, cutting, peeling, and portioning ingredients.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene in the kitchen, food preparation areas, utensils, and equipment.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and halal food-handling procedures in accordance with the kitchen's requirements.
- Assist cooks and chefs with basic cooking and food preparation duties when required.
- Ensure proper storage, labelling, and handling of food ingredients to maintain freshness and prevent cross-contamination.
- Wash and sanitise kitchen utensils, equipment, and workstations.
- Assist with receiving, checking, and storing incoming food supplies.
- Follow the kitchen's standard operating procedures (SOPs) and comply with workplace safety requirements.
- Support the kitchen team during peak operating hours and perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Job Requirements
- Have prior working experience in a MUIS-certified halal kitchen in Singapore, with familiarity in halal food-handling procedures.
- Familiar with kitchen hygiene standards and food safety practices.
- Basic knowledge of food preparation, kitchen cleanliness, and food safety procedures.
- Able to perform kitchen duties that require prolonged standing and physical activity.
- Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment and as part of a team.
- Responsible, hardworking, disciplined, and willing to learn.
- Able to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays when required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in restaurants, catering kitchens, central kitchens, or institutional kitchens.
- Familiarity with halal kitchen SOPs and measures to prevent cross-contamination.
- Able to commence work at short notice would be an advantage.
