Medical Laboratory Assistant
Receive laboratory specimens via the Pneumatic Tube System and other delivery channels.
Check specimens and reject unsuitable samples according to laboratory requirements.
Sort, process, and organise blood, urine, and other body fluid specimens.
Send specimens to the correct laboratory divisions and workstations.
Use the Laboratory Information System (LIS) for sample receipt, result enquiries, and order entry when required.
Manage specimen movement between laboratory systems and work areas.
Attend to enquiries regarding specimen status and movement.
Respond to customer enquiries and refer issues to the appropriate staff when necessary.
Perform basic instrument maintenance and report equipment faults.
Monitor laboratory supplies and inform relevant staff when stocks are low.
Report incidents to senior staff.
Follow laboratory procedures, safety rules, and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
Higher NITEC or any equivalent study
Relevant clinical laboratory experience is an advantage
Good laboratory skills with strong attention to detail
Comfortable working with clinical specimens and maintaining safety standards
