Job type: Full-time
Working pattern: Shift work across outlet hours, including weekends, PH & peak seasons [5 days work week, 10 hours]
ABOUT THE ROLE
You cook at the wok station on every shift. Your job is to cook every WOK HEY dish to the wok hei standard, safely & to specification, so that every customer gets the same great bowl at every outlet.
No wok experience? That is fine. We train everyone to our own wok standard, whatever their background. What we need from you is care for the food, care for your team and the willingness to keep getting better.
Scope: 1 wok station at 1 outlet. No direct reports.
What this role manages
• Cook every core dish to the wok hei standard
• Hold portion & sauce to specification on every dish, including customised orders.
• Prepare ingredients & set up the station before service & reset it after.
• Complete pre-opening, pre-closure, triple checks & record them.
• Keep the station clean, hygienic, halal-compliant, including separation of utensils & ingredients.
• Check ingredients at the station when they arrive, by sight & smell, reject what fails.
• Receive goods, record them & print an expiry-date label for any food once its pack is opened, for example edamame.
• Wear the correct protective equipment, follow hot-oil & equipment procedure.
• Report every near miss & every incident on the day it happens.
• Keep the station stocked through service & flag a shortage before it stops the line.
Requirements
• Understand spoken instructions in at least one language shared with the outlet team: English, Mandarin or Malay
• Read & write in English or Chinese: the station SOP, expiry labels, records of goods received, and replies to Lark, SMS and WhatsApp messages.
• Able to work in a hot kitchen for long periods, including standing, lifting and working at heat. We consider reasonable accommodation.
• Available for outlet shifts, including weekends, public holidays and peak seasons.
