Working hours:
- Mondays to Fridays: 8:00am to 12:00pm
- Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays
Job Scope:
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintain the school’s green spaces, urban farming facilities, Ecogarden, grow towers and hydroponics systems.
- Perform watering, pruning, trimming, fertilising, mulching, weeding and pest management.
- Monitor plant health, identify pest and fungal issues, and apply appropriate organic treatments.
- Conduct routine inspections, minor repairs and inventory checks of gardening equipment and supplies.
- Support Environmental Club and Primary 4 and 5 Project Work activities, including seed germination, transplanting, harvesting and guiding students during practical sessions.
- Assist with hydroponic system maintenance, including topping up water and nutrients, monitoring temperature and performing basic troubleshooting.
- Maintain cleanliness of the urban farm and ensure proper drainage.
Requirements:
- Knowledge of horticulture, plant cultivation, soil management and irrigation systems.
- Experience in pruning, fertilising, pest control and plant propagation.
- Ability to cultivate and maintain fruit and vegetable plants.
- Basic knowledge of hydroponic systems and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work with students and support school-based environmental education activities.
Preferred Experience:
- Prior experience in providing horticultural, gardening or urban farming services in a school environment; and/or
- Prior experience working with or supporting children in an educational or learning environment.
