Carlitos Casa de Comidas, a vibrant Spanish tapas bar in the heart of Joo Chiat, is looking for a passionate and skilled Chef de Partie to join our kitchen team. You'll take ownership of your section, preparing authentic Spanish tapas and dishes to a consistently high standard, while working closely with the rest of the kitchen brigade to deliver a memorable dining experience.
What You'll Do
- Take full ownership of an assigned kitchen section (e.g. grill, cold kitchen, sauces, etc— as assigned), ensuring dishes are prepared to standard and plated consistently
- Prepare mise en place ahead of service and manage stock levels for your station
- Follow recipes, portioning, and presentation standards set by the Head Chef/Sous Chef, staying true to authentic Spanish flavours and techniques
- Maintain a clean, organised, and safe workstation in line with food safety and hygiene standards
- Communicate clearly with the rest of the kitchen team during service to ensure smooth ticket flow, especially given the fast-paced, shared-plates nature of tapas dining
- Assist in training and guiding junior kitchen staff/commis chefs
- Support with stocktakes, ordering, and minimising wastage
- Stay updated on menu changes and seasonal specials
What We're Looking For
- Prior experience as a Chef de Partie or a strong Demi Chef de Partie ready to step up, ideally in a restaurant, bar, or tapas/small-plates environment
- Familiarity with Spanish cuisine and cooking techniques is a strong plus
- Solid knowledge of kitchen fundamentals, food safety, and hygiene practices
- Able to work efficiently under pressure during service
- Team player with good communication skills
- Willing to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
Work Schedule
- 5-day work week, 44 hours/week. Overtime pay for hours beyond 44/week!
