Chin Mee Chin Bakery, a beloved heritage Hainanese kopitiam, has opened at NEX and looking for a Cook to join our kitchen team. You'll help prepare our traditional dishes such as Nasi Lemak, staying true to the recipes and standards that have made Chin Mee Chin a Singapore institution, while helping bring that heritage to a new generation of guests.
What You'll Do
- Prepare and cook dishes according to Chin Mee Chin's recipes and standards, ensuring consistency in taste, portioning, and presentation
- Handle mise en place ahead of service — washing, cutting, marinating, and prepping ingredients
- Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen station in line with food safety and hygiene standards
- Monitor stock levels for your section and flag shortages or reordering needs
- Work efficiently with the rest of the kitchen team to ensure smooth, timely service
- Assist with receiving and storing deliveries correctly
- Support senior kitchen staff/Head Chef with new menu items or seasonal offerings as needed
- Uphold food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness standards at all times
What We're Looking For
- Prior experience as a cook, ideally in a kopitiam, coffeeshop, or traditional/heritage F&B setting; candidates with strong kitchen fundamentals and a willingness to learn are also welcome
- Familiarity with traditional Singaporean/Hainanese cooking methods and dishes is a plus
- Able to work efficiently under pressure during service
- Team player with good communication skills
- Willing to work rotating shifts, including weekends and public holidays
Work Schedule
- 5-day work week, 44 hours/week. Overtime pay for hours beyond 44/week.
